Ayo’s Oneké Cummings’ artistic journey began in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes. Her
entire childhood she dreamed of being a doctor, so after moving around with (and without) her
family, she headed to Spelman College in Atlanta, GA and started as a Biology Pre-Med major.
After just one semester in the science department, she quickly realized her passion was NOT in
biology.  After some soul searching, she discovered the Spelman College department of Drama
and Dance where she discovered her true passion. Ayo did not want to be a doctor; she wanted to
play one on TV.  After graduating from Spelman, Ayo interned with Georgia Shakespeare,
followed by working at Climb Theatre in Inver Grove Heights, MN. She then attended graduate
school in New York at the New School for Drama. She’s been acting, writing, directing and
living in New York, where she met the rest of the Pride: The Podcast crew. She initially was a
guest host but is now happy to be welcomed into the fold.
